Rivers are graded on a scale of one to six, with one being the most calm. Four is considered to be challenging without being excessively dangerous for the novice rafter. Five ideally requires some previous river experience.

Trisuli River
trisuli The Trisuli River (grade 3+) is one of the most popular, if not the favourite, of Nepal's raftable rivers due to its close proximity to Kathmandu and easy road access. For the first time rafters it offers plenty of excitement. Many also choose to incorporate a ride down the Trisuli with either a trip to Pokhara or to the Royal Chitwan National park
Bhote Koshi River
bhote The Bhote Koshi (grade 5+) is worth special mention. It is a two-day run of pure adrenaline located only three hours from Kathmandu. 26km of continuous white water soaks rafters as they shoot through a veritable maze of canyons and boulders. Little more than a swimsuit is needed for this one.
Kali Gandaki River
kaligandaki The Kali Gandaki River (grade 4+) winds through remote canyons and deep gorges for three days of intense rapids amongst gorgeous wilderness and spectacular mountain views. Trips on the Kaligandaki begin and end in Pokhara and, with 120km of continous challenges, offer an exciting alternative to the Trisuli
Sunkosi River
sunkoshi The Sunkosi (grade 5+) is Nepal's second offering for expedition rafting. It is only 3 hours drive from Kathmandu and more easily accessible than the Karnali. In spite of that it offers an incredible stretch of exhilarating white water. This run is 270km and requires 8 to 10 days to complete, with road access only at the beginning and end.
Karnali River
karnali The Karnali River (grade 5+) in the far west is the longest and largest river of Nepal. To arrive at its banks requires a two-day trek from Surkhet in the Terai. Its main attractions are the spectacular landscapes, narrow gorges, challenging rapids and abundant wildlife. During most of this trip the wilderness is uninterrupted by human inhabitants
Marshyangdi River
marshandi The raging Marshyangdi (grade 5+) run is four days of uninterrupted white water. Flowing for 52km through the gorges of the Annapurnas, it is sandwiched between boiling foam and towering peaks. Trips on the Marshyangdi start from Pokhara.
